MARCH STEWARDSHIP

During March, the Stewardship committee has joined with the Sewing Saints to provide materials for 15 school kits to be sent to Lutheran World Relief. These school kits contain various, specific items which can be purchased more prudently in bulk. A donation of $20 provides the materials and shipping for 1 kit. Please use the “School Kit” envelope provided for you to contribute to this project.

Checks may be made out to GSLC and designated—school kits. A list of the items you have contributed toward and a receipt may be found with the envelope. You may keep this. Deadline for this is March 25th. Many thanks.

Where do the Lutheran World Relief donations go? Please see the enclosed, most recent list of these donations throughout the world.

Roeding Easter Gifts

The Christian Education team is looking for an idea for Easter gifts for our children at Roeding Elementary.

If anyone has an idea of something we could do to share the love of Jesus with them at this most holy time of year,

please see any member of the Christian Ed team or Pastor Ted.

T-Shirts

We have a prototype for the congregational T-shirts we will soon be selling to raise funds for our trip to New Orleans for the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering.  The youth worked super hard on this project, so we hope you’ll be pleased with our creation.  Watch the bulletin for more!

Please submit all names of recent graduates & those receiving promotions for posting to our bulletin, newsletter & web site. Thank you!

Come join us as we dive into a study of JONAH: NAVIGATING A LIFE INTERRUPTED

"They shock us; they shake us; they compel us to change.  You can't escape life's interruptions, but you can change your perspective on them. Dive into the study of Jonah and discover that what you see as an interruption may truly be God's diving invitation to a life so much bigger than you can imagine."

Priscilla Shirer will lead us in our weekly journey beginning APRIL 11.  We meet from 6:30-8:30 in the Community Center.

Don't let child care keep you from attending - Julie will be providing activities for your kids (or a place to do their homework) during the same time period on Wednesday evenings.  Just let us know so we can have age appropriate activities available!

Bethel Lutheran Home

January 31, 2012

Dear Good Shepherd Lutheran Church,

Bethel Home Activities Department would like to thank you for your donation of stocking stuffers to help make this Christmas a blessing. With your contribution everyone was able to receive gifts. Christmas would have not been the same without your contribution.

Our Christmas party was a great success! Santa made sure to hand deliver every gift this year with much holiday cheer. We made sure Santa’s helpers personalized every bag, full of gifts to every resident. We had Christmas music, entertainment, and served special refreshments.

Thank the Lord that there are many wonderful people like yourselves to help put smiles on the faces of all our residents.

Thank you for all your gracious donations,

Melissa Hernandez

Activity Director

Independent Living

“Keep Us In Mind”

We have several vacant cottages at The Village, our senior independent living part of Bethel’s campus.  If you are interested in an active senior lifestyle where you can put aside the “cares,” such as cleaning, yard work and general maintenance, which a home demands, The Village is a great choice for retirement living.  We offer a lovely setting which encourages your independence.  There is a wide variety of activities and social opportunities.  The Village is fully fenced and entry is via an electronic gated entrance.  Each day a full course meal is served at lunchtime in the Commons Building.  Each cottage has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, and dining area, kitchen with range, oven, disposal, microwave and dishwasher, as well as washer/dryer hookups.  There are large closets and storage space.  There is an emergency call system throughout each cottage.  You can furnish and decorate your cottage in a way that reflects your own tastes and needs.

Enjoy retirement living in “Quiet Elegance and Affordable Luxury.”  For complete information, or further details, to schedule a tour and have a complimentary lunch, call Richard Danielsen, Village Services Coordinator, any Monday thru Wednesday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at (559) 896-4900 ext. 202.

Thank you for keeping Bethel Lutheran Home in your thoughts and prayers.

Thoughtfully Yours,
