Summer Children's Sunday School
Summer Sunday school has been lots of fun play time and bonding time for the kids. We have read So Many Cats and The Puppy Who Needed a Boy and through these stories learned more about generosity and sharing, caring for All of God’s creation, and perseverance and faith. We’ve been putting prayer into practice and growing our faith. Plus, did I mention we’ve been playing outside and having fun together?!
Youth Group
We have been meeting every Saturday from 1-3. It’s never too late to join in! Friends are always welcome!
Dear Good Shepherd Family, Thank you for the 20 years I had to be part of what I considered my extended family. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to serve you and be served by you. You helped me through the deaths of my mother, brother, and husband. You shared the joy of the marriage of my daughter, Rachel to Mathew Rogers, and the baptism of my two granddaughters, Emily and Nicole. You enjoyed the fellowship of my son Rodney. These events were all meaningful to me. I truly enjoyed being apart of so many organizations and opportunities to serve the congregation of Good Shepherd. It was not an easy decision to make to leave a place I felt so happy, but as many of you know, I felt it was the answer to Jeremiah 29:11 which reads “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord … “Plans to give hope and a future.” I now live with Rachel, Matt, Emily and Nicole but I have found a little “mother-in-law’s cottage about 5 blocks from their home. I will move there in September. I want to thank you for the wonderful send off you as a congregation gave me on the last Sunday I worshipped with you, July 11th. You honored me with a beautiful leather bound Bible, a pot-luck lunch and the “laying on of hands” with a special picture taken. I was truly blessed on that day! I have been worshiping at Christ Lutheran in Visalia with my daughter and the girls. I already know some people there by attending the Women of the ELCA Retreat in Three Rivers. Why don’t some of you sign-up for the retreat at Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, November 9-21, 2010. I’ll see you there also! Thanks again for all your love. In Christ, Ruth Johnson
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
On Sunday, October 3rd, at 3 p.m. Good Shepherd is hosting its
third annual Pet Blessing Sunday. Make plans now to bring your furry or
feathered--or even scaled--friends to a special outdoor service, where Pastor
Ted will bless each and every pet. We honor the tradition of St. Francis of
Assisi, and this custom of blessing the animals is conducted as a special
remembrance of his love for all creatures.
Please bring clean glass, clean plastic & clean aluminum to the two blue 33 gallon recycle waste baskets in the Jacobson Hall storage room as a donation to our Community Center. Thanks.

Campbell Soup Label Report
We at GSLC saved 200 Campbell Soup Labels in the past 15 months. They have been sent to the Good Shepherd Auxiliary collection place in Santa Cruz for the CA-NU North unit. Thank you everyone who saved their Campbell labels and placed them in the “collection bag” in Jacobson Hall kitchen (behind the T.V.) Remember to include the UPC code with the label!
Thanks! Ruth Johnson
Box Tops for
Education all products for Roeding Elementary. This is a simple way we can help raise money for our adopted school by simply removing the tops from items we are already purchasing. A labeled box can be found in the narthex in which to deposit the box tops you've clipped. A big thanks to Penny Fey for coming up with this great idea!
