Friends, My daughter, Jeanna Sullivan and I are training to walk in the Eye-Q Two Cities Half Marathon on November 7, 2010, as members of Medical Ministries International (MMI) M*A*S*H Runners Team. M*A*S*H stands for Medical Aid Supplying Hope. All of us on the M*A*S*H Runners Team are raising funds to support MMI’s mission of taking the useful medical surplus of America and using it to bring hope and health to people all over the world. MMI is a non-profit organization, based in here in the Valley, that obtains surplus medical equipment, supplies & medicines and puts them to use in less advantaged clinics and hospitals worldwide. This medical surplus, which would otherwise end up in American landfills, is transported by MMI to third-world countries to serve those in need. These shipments consist of 40 foot sea containers jam-packed by MMI volunteers. MMI has provided assistance to India , Haiti , Zimbabwe , Swaziland , Mexico , Armenia , Columbia, Laos , Fiji , South Africa , Indonesia , Honduras , Ethiopia , and the Philippines . With your sponsorship of our walking goal, MMI can continue to help hundreds, if not thousands, of people in dire need of the most basic medical care. While it is not easy for us to ask for money from our friends and family, we are doing so because we know that the money we raise is going to a wonderful cause. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support our participation on the M*A*S*H Runners Team and help advance MMI’s mission. Together, we can help ensure that many more in our global family will receive the care that they so desperately need. Donating is easy & safe to do! Please use this link to make donations online: http://www.firstgiving.com/caroljeannasullivan
We
can also accept cash & check donations if you would prefer. Please make checks
payable to MMI.
Remember, no donation is too small and every little bit helps!!
Thank you for your support!

Scouting the Divine – Searching for God in Wine, Wool, and Wild Honey
The Bible is full of clever plots and compelling stories, laced with historic insights and literary beauty. Despite its richness and depth, many of us struggle to close the gap between the ancient world and our own.
What does it mean to know that Jesus is the Good Shepherd when the only place you’ve encountered sheep is at a petting zoo? How can you understand eh promise of a land overflowing with honey when you buy yours in a bear-shaped bottle? Can you grasp the urgency of Jesus’ invitation to abide in the vine when you shop for grapes at a local grocery store?
Come on a six week spiritual adventure and explore how ancient livelihoods illuminate meaningful Christian truths that apply to life today.
Scout the Divine and move from just reading the Bible to entering stories that can be touched, tasted, heard, seen, smelled, and savored.
We will begin meeting WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 – BUT PICK UP YOUR WORKBOOK and start studying the week before!! You need to complete the first week BEFORE we meet September 15.
